Tanya Vik - Teacher in Residence, Teacher Education Instructor

Tanya Vik is an instructor for the pedagogy courses in the Math Specialist Certificate Program for primary elementary school teachers. She thoroughly enjoys providing professional development to teachers at local school districts, both within the program and at the San Diego County Office of Education.

Currently, she is on-loan from the Encinitas Union School District . She has been teaching first through third graders for the past 11 years. Working with her students in mathematics has become a passion of hers because it's a curricular area in which you can really "see into the minds of students".

Tanya earned her B.A. degree and teacher's credential at California State University, Fresno. She earned her M.A. degree in Teaching at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She has also participated in a Math Study Group with other teachers from the Encinitas Union School District for the past seven years. This group, along with other extensive professional development opportunities, has really expanded her understanding of children's mathematical thinking.

In her free time, Tanya enjoys working out at the gym, cooking, traveling, scrapbooking, and oil painting.
